Healing-centered therapy

About.

  • My path in becoming a therapist has taken many turns. As an undergraduate, I studied psychology and gained experience working with children with complex trauma in outdoor and residential settings. I went on to receive my Masters in Social Work at Portland State University in 2001. As an MSW, I spent several years as a licensed clinician in Rhode Island and a school counselor in New York City. This work peaked my interest and investment in confronting the systemic barriers to health, including structural racism and other forms of discrimination that impact the physical and social-emotional health of individuals and communities. In 2005, I made the leap to attend law school at the City University of New York, founded by freedom fighter Haywood Burns. Upon entering the legal profession I took on many roles in supporting movements to organize against mass incarceration. My primary role in the last several years has been to support people returning home from incarceration and to coordinate community care alternatives that center the inherent dignity of all people.

After almost two decades of community-based care work, I decided to return to my original passion around guiding the process of healing for individuals seeking therapy. Throughout my career, I learned that prioritizing care for self and others is a powerful tool for creating change. I am dedicated to building culture and fostering relationships that center connection, belonging, and compassionate accountability. I believe that therapy is an important site for transformative work in ourselves and in society. My work as a therapist is also informed by my lived experiences facing physical and emotional health challenges and my own personal healing. My hope for people that enter a therapeutic relationship is that they find a guide that inspires them to face difficult truths, to live authentically, and to feel fulfilled in their relationships and lives. I believe strongly that each of us is our best healer and that the work of healing cannot be done in isolation. I truly enjoy learning your story and collaborating together on the insights and actions that best support your development and growth.
